My pal and occasional partner-in-crime, Ethan Kaplan, has begun a series on how he keeps his astonishingly overstimulated life together. The first installment mostly covers his environment and setup for home, work, and mobile computing.

Since Ethan's enviably coolass job requires that he be not only "always on," but always casting about for the Next Big Technology Thing, he's had the opportunity to try tons of different gadgets, protocols, sites, and you name it. It'll be fun to follow along as he shares his tricks. (Of course I'm most interested in how he handles the reportedly Herculean email load he has to grok each day).

Ethan begins:

I realized that after six months working at WBR, and after near 23 years in the computing universe, I have settled on a routine that is maybe helpful for others. Certainly, my method of work is not as seamless or as downright entertaining as Merlin’s and nor is it as quantifiable. Instead, I have managed to arrange my digital existence in a way that keeps my information overloading without it being overbearing.
