The Forehead Ticket Trick

So, you’re going to a ticketed event, like a concert or a ball game. It’s out of town. You’re carpooling with four other people. How do you ensure that everyone in the car has their ticket with them? The car doesn't move until each person takes out their ticket and holds it to their forehead. Been doing it for 20 years, and you’d be amazed how often it saves the day. 21 Comments

Years ago I took my kid and his two friends to see The Who. I had been a good dad and rented them a motel room and was driving them the 100 miles or so to the concert. I would spend the night at mom's (only 60 miles from concert site) and get them the next day. Perfect !!! Except that unknownst to me, the kid decided to put his ticket in my glove compartment as we went down the road. He forgot all about it. When I get to mom's, I needed something in there and found the ticket! After much frantic thought, I realized I had not a chance in hell to go back there and somehow connect and deliver, so I just waited til the next day and went to the motel and picked them up. Far from frantic, I found that he had spend every cent all three of them had to buy a scalped ticket, so they never did buy the uglies they might have bought and all they had to do was enjoy a concert in the rain. Many years later I gave him his unused ticket as a gift to remind him the value of grammy's "scanning", that art of thinking about what you are doing and making sure you have all the parts.
