BlackBerry shutdown closer after ruling - U.S. Business - MSNBC.com
[ via Slashdot ] Damn, this could be pretty big stuff, eh? I'm guessing at least a few of you out there are rabid Blackberry users -- I've never even used one myself, but I have friends who live on theirs. So, I'm curious: How do you feel about the possibility of losing Blackberry service? If it went away today, what would you use instead? Do you have a fallback plan? 24 Comments

Yeah, I don't know much...Submitted by Geoff (not verified) on December 2, 2005 - 5:36am.
Yeah, I don't know much about RIM's finances, but unless the settlement would push them into bankruptcy, they have every economic incentive to pay the settlement and move on. In fact, I would go so far as to wager that they're using the threat of a "work-around" to keep the price of settlement down. If there really were a work-around with which they were comfortable they would releaze it well in advance of potential service disruption. That would prevent shut-off and would push the price of settlement futher down, since the plaintiffs wouldn't then feel like they were over a barrel. As for the b-berry/trio debate, I would be interested in a unbiased GTD view of whether they are really useable. And when I say "GTD view", I don't mean the "I'm going to explore every possible productivity device and obsess about getting my system perfect" side of GTD, but rather the "I turn it on, I click three things, and it does exactly what I need every time and nothing more, even though I've never even read the instruction manual." Because that's what my b-berry does. » POSTED IN:
