Shaving tips, or, 'how I remain Gillette’s bitch'

In the course of a year I have gone from shaving with pain and suffering using a Gilette Mach-3 to using a so-called cut-throat with brush, shaving soap, and all. On the way to the cut-throat, I used a safety-razor for a while, but I must say that nothing beats the cut-throat. I've never had as close and problem-free shave as with this retro tool. So my advice is to try out a "real" razor, a brush, a honing strop, some shaving soap or cream and use lots of water. It took me around a month to lean the skill and now I'm as fast to shave as with the Mach-3 razor, but the result is so much better. I also enjoy the actual shave more, wielding my razor-sharp "sword". The potential risk makes the shaving-moment more mindfull and kind a meditative. Where I live I was unable to find any cut-throats and had to order online from a site in the UK, but as a razor is rather expensive (~ 100£) the shipping din't mather that much. » POSTED IN:
