Mac spring cleaning
riverjack | Jul 13 2006
Hey ya'll, I'm feeling the need to do some cleanup on my mac since it's been over a year since I started using it. Does anyone have some advice or checklists that outline what they do (and how they do it) to keep their machine tip top? Thanks, Jesse 9 Comments

Macs aren't like Windows where gunk accumulates in a central location like the Registry (which prompts the need to run programs like "Cr*p Cleaner" and other Registry cleaning tools). Even the "Repair Permissions" voodoo has become unnecessary since Tiger. The hard drive defragments itself. So there really isn't a pressing need for a spring cleaning. That's not entirely accurate. The Mac has an equivalent to the registry that you may want to look into if you're cleaning up: the Library Folder. Depending on your apps, some of the subfolders can get fairly large, and you may not need them anymore if you've uninstalled the app. » POSTED IN:
