Whats your my documents schema?

Hi All.

I had a computer crash the other day, and whilst I am waiting for my data to be returned, I thought it would be a great opportunity for some spring cleaning of my files. I know that there are a lot of you that are far more organised than me so I thought I would share my ideas about the optimal folders schema that will work for me. If any of you can suggest improvements, I would love to hear your suggestions.

Heres the schema(ps I give this as complete creative commons so do with it what you will!)
I have attached the folders as an image.
If there are any great changes I will add them in and zip it up. to share.

interesting thread IMO

I hadn't really thought about my schema, I just know that I've finally found one that seems to work for me. I based it on my GTD organization. As I went to see what exactly I had allowed my organizational set-up grow into, I realized that I need to take another look around. I have some folders that are not getting used properly and some that are just more confusing for me than they should be. But FYI, this is what I currently have (some of the headings may seem foreign because they deal with my specific field, but you should be able to get the idea)

-For Mac

-custom icons
-palm pilot
-software to try

-Home (not alphabetical, in order of use)
-pics need photoshop
-dog information
-finances
-family info
-MP3 lists
-DVD lists
-CD lists
-personal

-University (alphabetically sorted because so many sub-folders)
-ASA information
-Bermudagrass NTEP
-Competition materials
-Field work
-Governor's School 2006
-Lab work and information
-Masters work
-sorted out by research area and type of work
-STMA education committee
-PDF's
-these are sorted out by general subject
-Pesticide information
-PhD work
-additional sorting by research area and type of work
-Presentations
-STMA information
-Turf Ecology 2006
-Turfgrass management 2006
-Golf and Sports Turf 2006

I'm glad you wrote about this, I look forward to making my documents work better for me :D

Cranking

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
