Best virus protection to use

I have been all over the internet and no one agrees. What is the best anti-virus program to use. Also which ones should I stay away from. I have an idea of the ones I should stay away from but I would like some input from everyone. 5 Comments

As far as what is "best"...I can't answer that, sorry. I use Avast home (free) and have been very happy. My computer: WinXP / 512MB RAM / 1.4GHZ Celeron. I switched from AVG free when I began to have trouble w/the updates. Here is an article from PC World that rates Avast as best free AV. On a similar subject, if you are looking for a great free firewall, try out Comodo. I dumped Zone Alarm (was eating up my system resources), and Comodo runs so light you hardly know it is there.
