Best virus protection to use
para | Jul 24 2007
I have been all over the internet and no one agrees. What is the best anti-virus program to use. Also which ones should I stay away from. I have an idea of the ones I should stay away from but I would like some input from everyone. 5 Comments

I've used both AVG and Avast and would feel confident running either of them. For free software they are both excellent. However on my primary laptop, running Windows Vista, I do not run an antivirus. I also dont run a 3rd party firewall. I use the built-in Windows firewall and I've got a router between me and the outside world. I use Firefox instead of IE and I've never had an issue. I used to run a scan using HouseCall, a free online browser based anti-virus, every once in a while but I'm not too worried about it. That being said, I am an IT professional and am very careful about what I do on my machines. For many people, you just gotta have AV running if you are running Windows so my setup is not what I would recommend for everyone. » POSTED IN:
