What I love about Quicksilver

Let me count the ways:

1. The Shelf. 'nuff said.
2. Comma trick.
3. Access to my bookmarks without having a browser open.
4. I can look up any word in one keystroke.
5. cmd-esc.
6. Composing simple email.
7. Text manipulation.
8. Clipboard mania.

oh, and 9. Launching programs.

I'm sure there are many others but these are the main reasons I could not imagine having a Mac without Quicksilver.

Yah, I was having similar troubles until I went mucking around in the preferences. Go to QS > Preferences > Custom > Del.icio.us bookmarks. Click the Get info icon at the bottom right. In the drawer that pops open, go to Attributes and deselect Include in global catalog. Now, when you want your del.icio.us bookmarks, just search for the catalog entry for your bookmarks, arrow in and search just your bookmarks. You could even set a trigger to bring up the catalog entry and then you have quick kb access to your bookmarks without them mucking up your regular QS happiness. HTH.

Just a quick add on to this - to change this you need to go to QS > Preferences > Catalog > Custom > Del.icio.us bookmarks. The rest is just right. Can you believe that I've had this add on for over a year and just thought it didn't work. I didn't know where to go to put my user name and password in! Doh!

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
