Making the switch?

For some years now, I've been thinking of switching from Windows to a Mac, problem is, the family has been unwilling to dive in the last several times I've had to buy a new machine. From what I've read here on the Mac's handling of GTD, I think I may finally have an excuse Here's primarily what I'm looking for: A powerbook or equivalent able to run OS X fairly if not very well. Must be able to network. Not new due to cost considerations, but not ancient. I figure anything within the last few years should adequately work. My question is, does anyone know of any sites that may provide reviews and/or sell used machines? I've tried the typical ebay/craigslist searches without much luck. Thanks! 9 Comments

G3s are OK too, depending on needs. You can run panther on them. I still have a G3 600mhz iBook that works fine, so if your demands are low, these are "cheap" and will let you transition. But don't be misled to think Macs are slow based on a G3. Visit a store; anything new will fly. They all network, most are wireless. Or if you want a warranty try the Special Deals page on Apple's site: There is a 14" iBook for $1050 and a 17" iMac for $1000. And you can extend the one year warranty for two more years, anytime within the 1st year (suggested for a portable). Good luck. » POSTED IN:
