Kip : for managing paper archives

http://www.thekip.com/Site/about%20kip.html Sweet! My paper-archiving is still kind of half-assed. I think Kip may well prove useful as a full-assed solution. 3 Comments

Installed it and lost interest quickly... 1) Command-A is Select-All as expected. Command-Delete isn't delete, though. You can drag selected items to the Trash or context/right-click and pick 'Delete' against all selected items. 2) Well, it isn't using DAV as much as just using a mounted filesystem and copying things to it. You could create a symlink for the directory it puts in ~/Documents onto any filesystem you want, DAV or no. I think that continuing to throw things into DEVONthink is the way to go for most things, but I *really* like that little magnifier that lets you surf un-indexable documents such as handwritten notes! I end up with a lot of things that I have to heavily tag in DEVONthink if they're not machine-indexable. Though I guess I'm tagging things in Kip too, so I suppose ultimately I was just blinded by the nice rack on Kip. Now, the morning after, the stink of booze and cigarettes lingering in the air, I see that one day my ability to be easy impressed by glitzy things may well kill me. » POSTED IN:
