Laptop Essential Apps?
Richard Anderson | Aug 10 2006
I just bought me a Refurb iBook G4 from Apple for collegiate stuff. Are there any apps you folks can recommend? Perhaps something to keep my desktop (a mini G4) and lappy in sync, document-wise? I am all ears. 5 Comments

For notes in clases etc...Submitted by Berko on August 14, 2006 - 11:55am.

If you use OOP for outlining and Keynote for presentations, you can prepare your presentations in OOP as you are gathering your info and then just export to Keynote format. OOP will also do voice recording. Some other essentials: Quicksilver if you are at all inclined to the Geek side. I have found my .Mac membership to be indispensable for my uni work. It sure beats having to keep track of a flash drive for transferring files for printing in the computer lab at school. If you have any significant amount of research to do, I have to recommend some sort of bibliographic manager. I have used Endnote and gotten very used to it. I hear Bookends is also very good, but I haven't used it. Both programs work best with MS Word, AFAIK. If you plan to tote your iBook around campus much, I have to also recommend Undercover, a software for tracking stolen machines. JackSMS is another app I use in conjunction with Undercover. LBNL, I recommend Burning Monkey Puzzle Lab. It has helped me stay awake in sooo many classes. HTH. » POSTED IN:
