I disagree:

Don't SMS, don't try the mobile - that's for priority stuff and makes me jump.

Don't email: if it can be said in an email, why were you trying to call me in the first place? Learn to discern between the need for synchonous and unsynchronous communication!

Most important of all: don't call back in 5 minutes. I might be having an important conversation and ignoring phonecalls on purpose. I might be sleeping. Say something. I might be listening to see who's calling.

In addition to saying their number too fast, what I really hate is when people say "Hello this is Jim, I am calling about ~mumble-grumble-talk-too-fast~.
