Open Thread: What's your favorite minimalist wallet?
Merlin Mann | Apr 21 2006
Like most 43F articles on economical carriage and stowage, the Jimi post attracted a lot of interest. Makes me think it's time for an open thread: What's your favorite minimalist wallet? Jimi? Slimmy? Moneyclip? Coin purse? Goin' commando? Spill in comments (and feel free to link to canonical product pages or price compar-i-nators like Froogle). My own winner for minimalism? Starting before a trip to New York in the late 80s, I started wrapping my driver's license, ATM card, and a bill or two in a couple of my Goody pony tail holders (shut up). I think that was my wallet for at least the next two years -- until I got my first real job and decided to go cowhide again. Still, it remains one of my favorites. 212 Comments

Well, after losing $200 in...Submitted by Cody (not verified) on April 30, 2006 - 3:28pm.
Well, after losing $200 in "free floating money" that was in my front pocket and fell out when I pulled my keys out, I decided it was time to start keeping my money in a wallet. I hate my current wallet. It's too big and it's got too much crap in it. After seeing the Jimi, I fell prey to an itchy ebay trigger finger and purchased a stealth black Jimi. I then realized that the Jimi won't hold enough cash to keep me happy, so I hit ebay looking for something more suitable. I ended up purchasing an alligator skin card-holder/money clip that has a similar card capacity to the Jimi, but should be able to hold much more cash. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8260899420&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 It's a little expensive compared to a Jimi or an All-Ett, but I really like alligator skin and it is quite a bit cheaper than an expensive italian wallet. I got the Jimi yesterday, and it is indeed very cool. It will come in handy for trips to the beach or the amusement park. My fancy alligator skin wallet is due to come next week. I'm hoping it turns into my number one wallet. I guess I'll just have to resign myself to carrying less cash when I use the Jimi, or letting the cash run around loose in my pocket. I'll keep the big bills inside of the Jimi, so at least I hopefully wont be out $200 again anytime in the near future. By the way, someone found my money and turned it into the police and I got it back a few days later. There are still lots of good folks in this world. :) » POSTED IN:
